MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Blues icon Bobby Rush gave fans a brand new album called “Sitting On Top of the Blues” at the Blues Hall of Fame Museum Friday.

The Grammy Award winning music legend signed copies of his album and entertained the crowd with his brand of comedic storytelling and his music. 

Success in the creative process after all these years Rush attributes to those he works with and is the first to give credit to the masterful minds that have helped earn him a devout legion of fans and dozens of awards.

This new album marks the latest recording by Rush since his first in 1967.

Music is healing for the soul said Rush. For the 85-year-old Rush, his art is more than entertainment. It’s a need elixir to help lead to understanding of problems of the world.

Rush is the oldest living blues musician still performing and recording and makes use of his years in the music industry to create music that has inspired the world.

During an interview before Rush’s performance he said that he’s still here fighting the fight for civil and human rights started like people like Martin Luther King, Jr.
