Back in July, FFN shared the first single from Freaks, “Teenage Freaks,” a soaring ear-worm with a classic, crunchy Power Pop vibe, and today we’re thrilled to premiere the music video for the track.

The “Teenage Freaks” clip was filmed at Latonia, Kentucky’s Lloyd’s Roller Rink and wonderfully captures the vibe of disco-ball-lit high-school rollerskating parties, which were a part of the group members’ youth. That vibe nicely syncs up with the soulful, heartland yearning that bleeds from the song’s core.

“We all grew up going to skating parties there and it looks exactly the same as it did close to 30 years ago,” guitarist Travis Talbert says of shooting the video at Lloyd’s.

The “Teenage Freaks” video was shot and directed by Max Nolte, drummer for the acclaimed Huntington, West Virginia band Ona.

Advance tickets for the Freaks album release show at the Southgate House Revival are on sale now.

Visit frontierfolknebraska.bandcamp.com to pre-order the album; it will be available on both red and black vinyl, as well as digitally and on CD.

Keep an eye on the FFN Facebook page for the latest updates. There and on the group’s Instagram page you can also find some testimonials about Freaks from various friends/fans, including Cincinnati musicians like Rob Keenan of Dawg Yawp and Wussy’s Lisa Walker.
