Voivod‘s 2018 album The Wake had some pretty blatant jazz fusion sections on it, and apparently the folks running the Montréal International Jazz Festival picked up on that too. Voivod has been invited to play their song “The End Of Dormancy” at the festival with a brass section, and you can check out some of the rehearsal footage below.
The arrangement was written by guitarist Dan “Chewy” Mongrain, and it sounds awesome. You’ll also find the original below for reference.
