The 1975 added tour dates in North America for November 2019

Even though it feels like The 1975 hasn’t released music in forever, this band is always on the move. From playing at Coachella to appearing on James Corden’s late-night show to touring around the world, the group keeps themselves busy, Matty Healy often posting on social media. Recently, The 1975 announced tour dates in Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.

Additionally, The 1975 is nominated for the “Best Rock” MTV Video Music Award, for their “Love It If We Made It” music video. They share the category with popular artists like Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons, and Twenty One Pilots.

The 1975 deactivated their social media accounts just as they sent an email to fans

If you’re looking for The 1975’s social media, you’re out of luck. Recently, the group deleted their Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages. This instance is not the first time The 1975 deactivated their social media accounts.

In fact, it comes before practically every album, marking the start of a “new era” for the group. First, it was the black and white era, then the bubblegum pink pop era, then the white with bold, bright colors era — some fans are wondering what’s next for this alternative rock group and when new music will come.

The social media deactivation was the group’s first hint. Then, some fans noticed a cryptic message on Spotify. Under one of The 1975’s playlists, was a quote from Greta Thunberg, “it’s time to rebel.” For other fans, The 1975 sent an email with a paper that says “wake up” three times.

“So, 17th August was the ‘release date’ but 3X wakeup, three weeks and three days before the day? Swedish for ‘rise at dawn?’ Accounts deactivated? I smell something cooking boys,” said one Twitter user.

What is ‘Notes on a Conditional Form?’

A few months ago, The 1975 announced a two-part album to be collectively called “Music for Cars.” Some believe this is a nod to the group’s first EP of the same title. This new era and these new albums, however, discuss technology and a more in-depth, analytical, self-aware version of the band — specifically frontman Matty Healy.

The first chapter of “Music for Cars” premiered on November 30, 2018, called A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships. This album holds 15 songs, including “I Like America & America Likes Me,” which the band recently performed live on The Late Late Show with James Corden. The second chapter of “Music for Cars” is officially titled Notes on a Conditional Form. Although not much is known about this album, Matty Healy hinted at a potential single release in August 2019.

A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships is available for listening on Apple Music, Spotify, and most major music streaming platforms.
