The K-pop juggernaut BTS continues its quest for world domination this week with its fourth Korean-language — and seventh overall — album, called Map of the Soul: 7. We kick off this week’s show with a banger that features Sia, called “On.” Also this week, the singer known as Grimes returns with her first new album in five years, a dark and dystopian concept record about (among other things) climate change, called Miss_Anthrp0cene). We’ve also got hard-rocking new music from Best Coast, a staggering takedown of power structures from the rapper Royce da 5’9″, a beautiful Americana debut from singer Katie Pruitt and more. Host Robin Hilton is joined by NPR Music contributor Jewly Hight, XPN‘s Culture Cypher Radio host and host of the podcast Serious Rap S*** John Morrison, NPR Music’s Stephen Thompson, and host of Rhythm Lab Radio, DJ and Director of Digital Strategy and Innovation at 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, Tarik Moody as they share their picks for the best new albums out on February 21.
