PEORIA — The staple “End of Summer” event, the Peoria Blues and Heritage Music Festival, will return for its 31st year of riverfront entertainment Labor Day weekend.
Kicking off on Friday, August 30, the two-day event will feature music from the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, Here Come The Mummies, Tommy Castro and The Painkillers, Ronnie Baker Brooks and Laith Al-Saadi, among others.
Ticket prices range from $35 to $85.
Formerly known as the Illinois Blues Festival, the event is presented by Jay Goldberg Events and Entertainment in association with the Illinois Blues Coalition and 99.9 WWCT. The festival will be held at Festival Park on the Peoria riverfront with doors opening at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 30 and 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 31.
Besides bringing the community together to celebrate the end of the summer, the purpose of the festival is to preserve and promote the art of blues-related music. While blues is the focal point, the festival will also feature genres that stem from it, such as roots, funk and soul.
