The tea and soul food cafe opened on University Avenue two years ago.
After two years serving “soul food, soul music, soul sessions and soulful energy,” the Heritage Tea House has closed its original location.
Owners Raeisha Williams and Rosemary Nevils’ Williams announced on Friday that their cafe at 360 University Ave. W. in St. Paul closed at the end of January.
It opened its doors in December 2017, with Monitor St. Paul noting it was one of “very few” African-American owned businesses in the old Rondo neighborhood.
“It has been an amazing two years serving you soul food, soul music, soul sessions and soulful energy at the Tea House,” the owners told Insight News, the media outlet serving the African American community in the Twin Cities.
“Unfortunately, our time has come to an end, and in January we served our last meal before closing the doors to our University location in St. Paul.”
But it’s not a total end for the cafe, which will continue to serve its soul food and teas to Vikings fans at U.S. Bank Stadium, where it has a location at section 134 on the main concourse.
They’re also planning the launch of “food and beverage collections” this coming spring.
“We want to say a special thank you to all the artists who performed at the Tea House, our amazing customers, staff, friends and family, and our community partners NDC, WomenVenture, and MEDA who took this incredible journey with us,” the Williams’ added on Facebook.
