The monthly America’s Art Form concert series kicks off tonight with “The Heart and Soul of New Orleans,” featuring the Spa City Stompers.

The concert begins at 6 p.m. today in the Gordonelle Williams Auditorium. The free monthly concert series is presented by the Hot Springs Jazz Society and the Garland County Library.

The “The Heart and Soul of New Orleans” concert will include the music of New Orleans when Dixieland Bands played all over the city back in the 1920s and 1930s. Many of the tune presented will be Trad (traditional) and were played for funerals and Mardi Gras, the Jazz Society said in a news release.

Spa City Stompers includes George Ryan on cornet, C.E. Askew on drums, David Higginbotham on bass, and Clyde Pound pound on keyboard. Earl J. Hesse will join on clarinet and John Leisenring on trombone.

America’s Art Form is a free monthly concert series presented by the Hot Springs Jazz Society and the Garland County Library October through February with a special guest artist featured each month while focusing on a different style or detail of American born music.

All concerts are free and take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the library’s auditorium.

Scheduled concerts include “Swing Street and the Cotton Club,” “Birds and Diz and a Cool Yule,” “Vocal Colors,” and “Techno Parade and Electric Circuit Party.”
