Forgotten Music Festival Brings Blues Lineup to Port St. Joe – Music Fest News

Forgotten Music Festival Brings Blues Lineup to Port St. Joe

With countless music festivals taking place each year, many of them have been forgotten as they can’t survive the challenges associated with putting on such an event. However, the Forgotten Music Festival will take place this Friday and Saturday, November 8-9, in the small town of Port St. Joe, Florida, with hopes that it won’t live up to its namesake and will remain relevant for years to come as it gets set for the festival’s second year.

The growing blues festival will be held on the marina grounds that overlook the picturesque St. Joseph Bay,  bringing together a diverse group of bands including Friday headliner and blues supergroup JP Soars & the Red Hots and Selwyn Birchwood, an up-and-coming blues musician who already has achieved notoriety by winning several coveted blues awards.

Festival producers Joe and Sara Whitmer have developed Forgotten Music Festival based on their combined 30+ years in the blues music scene to put together an event where everyone is encouraged to “Come early and stay late.” The festival takes place in its new home of Port St. Joe after moving from Mexico Beach, home of the first festival. The move was important as residents of that area are still dealing with the after-effects following Hurricane Michael.

Port St. Joe is known by its adopted name “small town with a big heart;” the historic town doesn’t have any large buildings or congestion seen in other parts of Florida. It offers some respite and a chance to go back in time when things were simple, where one can visit small shops, play along the waterfront’s pristine white beaches, and dine in rustic fish shacks.

On Friday the gates open at 3:30, with Will Thompson taking the stage at 4:30, and Saturday gates open at noon with Jon Shain performing at 1:00.

Lineup:

Friday – November 8 WILL THOMPSON, AMANDA FISH, JP SOARS & THE RED HOTS

Saturday- November 9 JON SHAIN, BRANDON SANTINI, SARAH GRACE & THE SOUL, SELWYN BIRCHWOOD
