BTS Chart Their Third No. 1 Album In Canada With ‘Map Of The Soul: 7’ – Forbes

Following the lead of over a dozen other countries at this point, the Canaidian albums chart, administered by Billboard, has declared BTS’s new release Map of the Soul: 7 the No. 1 title in the country.

Map of the Soul: 7 debuts in the top spot, becoming the group’s third leader in the territory. They first reached the summit in 2018 with Love Yourself: Answer, and then they repeated that feat last year with Map of the Soul: Persona. Two previous full-lengths, 2017’s Love Yourself: Her and 2018’s Love Yourself: Tear both came very close to reaching the summit in Canada, though they didn’t quite make it. Those full-lengths peaked at Nos. 3 and 2, respectively.

So far, Map of the Soul: 7 has sent three tracks onto the Canadian Hot 100, with all three currently charting. Before the album arrived, the group dropped promotional cut “Black Swan,” and it quickly reached the ranking, starting off at No. 63. The tune disappeared the following week, but it returns this frame, re-entering the race at No. 89.

Two songs debut this week, upping their career count once again. Leading the way is “On,” which has been chosen as the lead single from Map of the Soul: 7. The track kicks off its time on the Canadian Hot 100 at No. 18, becoming BTS’s third-highest-charting song in the country (behind “Idol” with Nicki Minaj and “Boy with Luv” with Halsey) and their fifth top 40.

Further down the chart just one spot above the returning “Black Swan” is “Filter,” which launches at No. 88.

The songs featured on Map of the Soul: 7 perform even better on Canada’s Digital Song Sales chart, where a dozen tracks find their way into the top 40.

Map of the Soul: 7 pushes last week’s champion, Justin Bieber’s Changes, down one peg, as it settles for second place in its second turn on the tally. Legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne sees his first solo album Ordinary Man open at No. 3.
