The Volland Store will kick off the holiday season with a night of music from blues singer Kelley Hunt.

The concert will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at The Volland Store, 24098 Volland Road in Alma.

The program, called “Kelly Hunt and Friends Winter Soulstice,” will feature seasonal selections, arrangements and new music from Hunt.

Hunt, who was born in Kansas City, is a singer-songwriter who grew up listening to blues, R&B, roots rock, jazz and gospel.

Her newest album, “The Beautiful Bones,” is her sixth album to be released and the fourth she co-produced.

Hunt will be joined by bassist James Albright and singer Allena Ross.

According to a news release from The Volland Store, located in Alma, tickets for the evening are $17.50 in advance or $25 at the door.

Dinner is $12.50 a person and will include chili and brownies.

A dinner starting at 6 p.m. will be followed by the show.

The release said the show isn’t just traditional Christmas carols but “a deeper dive into material chosen to reflect, and interpret how we all feel this time of year.”

The release said the past few years of the “Winter Soulstice” have sold out and it “promises to be a very special musical experience.”

The Volland Store will also host Emerald City Singers, a children’s vocal performance group, at 2 p.m. Dec. 8.

The music group, based out of Wamego, will perform Christmas music, and audience members can participate in a group sing-along.

Christmas cookies and hot cider will be available.
