Area High Schools to Participate in Tallcorn Jazz Festival – kciiradio.com

Jazz bands from southeast Iowa schools will participate in the longest running jazz festival in Iowa. For 65 years, the University of Northern Iowa Tallcorn Jazz Festival has given students the opportunity to learn from the jazz musicians and receive feedback. Mid-Prairie, Mt. Pleasant, and Winfield-Mount Union will be making the trip to experience this event. Schools will also have the opportunity to attend one of the two Sinfonian Dimensions in Jazz concerts, featuring world renowned pianist Myra Melford and UNI Jazz Band One and Two. Parents will be able to attend the Tallcorn Festival portion of the event, with tickets costing $5 for adults, and free for children. This ticket does not include entrance into the Sinfonian Dimensions in Jazz concerts. The festival will take place today through Friday, February 21st.
