For the second year in a row, and for the third time in the past four years, Kingston’s The Abrams were named Roots Artist or Group of the Year at the Country Music Association of Ontario awards show on Sunday night.

John and James Abrams have been nominated for the roots award five times, winning three of them. They were first nominated in the roots category in 2014, and their only other loss came in 2018.

The duo was also in the running for Group of the Year at the awards show held in London, at which they also performed. It was the third time they had been nominated for that award, taken home by the Reklaws this year.

The Abrams were also nominated in 2017 for the “Rising Star” award.

The band’s latest recording, “Reminder,” was released in September 2019.
