Monday
NC Symphony Soundbites (Humble Pie, 317 S Harrington St., Raleigh) – Musicians will share favorites from the chamber music repertoire–introducing each work with their own commentary and insights–and the evening begins with a delicious meal, drinks, and good company.
Kyle Kinane (Cat’s Cradle, 300 E. Main St., Carrboro) – The internationally touring comedian has appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” and “Conan.” He brings his Spring Break tour to the Triangle. Tickets are $25.
The Shivas (Pinhook, 117 W. Main St., Durham) – The Shivas are a rock and roll band from Portland, Oregon.
Tuesday
Middle Earth Movie Trivia Night (Marbles IMAX, 201 E. Hargett St., Raleigh) – A 7 p.m. trivia game kicks off Marbles’ Middle Earth Movies series, which will show the Hobbit trilogy Feb. 21-23 and Lord of the Rings Feb. 27- March 1. $9 tickets and concession proceeds benefit Marbles Kids Museum.
Drive-By Truckers (Cat’s Cradle, 300 E. Main St., Carrboro) – The alternative country/Southern rock band is from Athens, Georgia.
Hairstory (Artspace, 201 E. Davie St., Raleigh) – This exhibit, open through Feb. 29, brings together three female artists who use hair as either subject or medium.
Wednesday
Bingo Night (Ponysaurus Brewing, 219 Hood St., Durham) – Bingo boards are $1 each and proceeds go to a local charity. Buy multiple boards and play for a chance to win prizes ranging from buttons & stickers to blow-up dinos and a $50 gift card.
Hari Kondabolu (Motorco Music Hall, 723 Rigsbee Ave., Durham) – The stand-up comedian and writer has a master’s degree in human rights and was an artist in residence at New York University’s APA Institute.
As One: A Chamber Opera (Current ArtSpace + Studio, 123 W. Franklin St., Chapel Hill) – In “As One,” two voices share the part of a sole transgender protagonist, tracing experiences from her youth in a small town to her college years. This production is supported by the Carolina Women’s Center. The show runs Wednesday and Thursday. Tickets are $27.
Dancing With the Stars Tour (DPAC, 123 Vivian St., Durham) – The show will feature the professional dancers in a brand-new production showcasing every type of dance style ranging from Tango to Foxtrot, Cha-Cha to Waltz.
Thursday
Masquerade Ball (The Big Easy, 222 Fayetteville St., Raleigh) – The $100 general admission ticket includes a Cajun-inspired four-course buffet dinner, two premium cocktails and live music from Groove 5. Event proceeds benefit SAFEchild, which works to eliminate child abuse in our area.
Friends With Benefits Dinner (St. Roch Fine Oysters, 223 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh) – One day out of each month, St. Roch prepares a special menu that highlights incredible ingredients provided by local farmers, growers and brewers.
Bobcat Goldthwait (Goodnights, 861 W. Morgan St., Raleigh) – Over the years Bobcat has amassed legions of fans with his brutally honest, outrageous and off-beat comedy that has made him one of the most recognizable comedians in show business today. He’ll be in Raleigh Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Friday
Rob Schneider (Raleigh Improv, 1224 Parkside Main St., Cary) – Schneider first came to prominence on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. He has also created and stars in the Netflix docu-series Real Rob. See him Friday and Saturday nights.
Third Friday Celebration, American Underground, 201 Main St., Durham) – A new augmented reality app called Mariposa AR — commissioned by Google Fiber and developed by Code the Dream — allows visitors to interact with two murals in downtown Durham inspired by artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.
Raleigh Blues Festival (Duke Energy Center, 2 E. South St., Raleigh) – This one-night festival features Tucka, Pokey Bear, Nellie “Tiger” Travis, Roy C and Big G.
