Hyderabad: It’s not every day that the city plays host to a music festival, leave alone one that explores jazz. But this weekend is going to be different. As the 3rd International Hyderabad Jazz Festival 2019 kicks off on Friday, music enthusiasts can hope to catch a mix of global and local performers at the Phoenix Arena, Hi-Tec City.
On the anvil are German-band Lisbeth Quartett, Meghalaya’s 4th Element, Thiefs from France, Hyderabad’s very own Dennis Powell Collective, The Great Harry Hillman from Switzerland and Mumbai-based The Vocal S Experience. The Jazz festival (from November 22-24) is part of a series of events leading up to the Hyderabad Literary Festival to be held in January next year. The music event is being jointly presented by Goethe-Zentrum, Alliance Francaise and US Consulate General Hyderabad.
Some of the highlights to look forward to are pieces from Thiefs album GRAFT (La GREFFE) which mixes up acoustic and electronic music, vocal and instrumental, jazz and hip hop as a reflection of mixed. tnn
