2’s Review: Mamma Mia renourishes your soul with music & dance – NBC2 News

If you’re starving for great theater and a good meal, then Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is serving up a hotdish of Mamma Mia!

This broadway musical will leave you dancing, jiving, and having the time of your life transporting you back to the 1970s, far from the pandemic and up close with the sounds of ABBA.

From the opening scene, actress Jennie Nasser commands the stage as Sophie Sheridan with “I Have a Dream.” Actress Kate Turner plays her mother, Donna, and has the big voice needed to carry the show.

This is a fun show and there is no doubt the actors in this show are having fun with it as they tend to be some of the only actors in the country even working right now.

The female talent and vocals don’t stop there. Shannon Connolly plays Donna’s lifelong friend, Rosie, and does a great job bringing a lot of humor to the show, Her performance of “Take A Chance on Me” leaves the audience laughing out loud.

Renee Reid who plays the sexy sultry Tanya who completes the Dancing Queens of friends and likewise has an amazingly rich and strong voice.

If you’ve seen the movie then the broadway show is a must see and it’s fine to bring the kids along.

Mamma Mia! tells the story of Sophie Sheridan desperate to find out who her father is before her marriage. After discovering her mother’s old diary she clues in on three men and invites them to her wedding unbeknownst to her mother.

The show is beautifully choreographed with dancing, kicks, and spinning thanks to the talents of Amie Marie McClear (Director / Choreographer) known for other big productions and she manages to use every inch of the stage with pure entertainment.

McCleary says the show is about returning the passions of our youth and taking time to heal oneself and in many ways it seems a fitting story to tell after a six-month hiatus from live theater. I couldn’t agree more.

Be sure to stay until the end for some great ABBA hits to wrap it up. Consider the show an investment in renourishing your soul with music, dance and a good time.

Everyone is required to enter Broadway Palm with a mask and have their temperature taken. Masks aren’t required while eating.

The show runs through November 14, 2020. Click here for more details about tickets and showtimes.
